Technological progress cannot be understood as a complete replacement of the human being within the social structure. It must be interpreted as a process of reorganizing labor, where technology amplifies capabilities but does not eliminate the need for a diverse human foundation that sustains everyday life.

Modern societies do not operate as single, linear systems. They function as interdependent networks of trades, services, and material processes that make urban and productive life possible.

The idea of a fully automated future ignores this structure. No society can remain stable without distributed human work in key areas such as food production, transportation, healthcare, infrastructure, and essential services.

Beyond labor, technology has also reshaped the human relationship with the body itself. The digitalization of daily life has significantly increased sedentary behavior across large parts of the population.

This phenomenon does not come from technology itself, but from its structural integration into work and daily routines. Automation, remote work, and digital consumption have reduced physical activity in many urban contexts.

The result is a silent transformation: a society that is more digitally connected but physically less active, creating new social challenges that are not purely economic, but also cultural and health-related.

Even something as simple as a meal reveals the depth of this system. A plate of food contains an entire chain of invisible labor: agriculture, logistics, industrial processing, distribution, and human preparation.

Automation may reduce repetitive tasks and transform entire sectors, but it does not eliminate human labor; it reconfigures it. The real issue is not technological change itself, but how its effects are distributed across society.

Not every individual can or needs to be integrated into highly technological jobs. A stable society requires labor diversity, including manual, technical, social, and service-based roles that sustain the overall system.

The necessary balance is not found in rejecting technology nor in absolutizing it, but in integrating it as a tool within a diverse human structure that preserves both work and social health.

Progress should not be measured by the amount of human labor eliminated, but by the ability of a society to maintain cohesion, health, and functional diversity while evolving its productive system.
