Love Inspires Action
Real stories told in the first person
Whenever I walk, I observe everything. Maybe it’s because I used to be a salesman and learned to notice every detail, every glance, those things that most people don’t see even if it seems like they’re looking.
I remember a man who lived on the street with his two little dogs. They were calm, one a bit more playful, but always loyal to their “human father.” Seeing that scene, I went and bought some food for him and his furry little children.
I returned home with a gratifying feeling: I had helped a little, even though my wallet didn’t have much. I’ve never been obsessed with money. Still, I couldn’t stop thinking about that man and his dogs.
Over time, I ran into him several times and helped him whenever I could. But I also saw other people pass by, with looks of contempt.
Most people who live on the street aren’t bad; many of them worked, were parents, siblings, grandparents, and due to difficult circumstances in life, they are now there. Life is a mystery.
All we can do is hope that one day people will change, that they will become kinder and more compassionate, because although today individualism overwhelms us, there are still many of us who help and respect our fellow human beings.
